Home Care Protocols
Home Care Protocol for Sciatica
Home care to reduce pain and inflammation of a disc injury. Stretches and nutrition to help heal a disc injury.
Home Care Protocol for Piriformis Syndrome
If your pain is in buttocks and back of thigh, but does not go below the knee you may have Piriformis Syndrome. This happens when the piriformis muscle (one of the major buttocks muscles) presses on the sciatic nerve.
Home Care Protocol for Low Back Spasm
Typically, a person with a psoas spasm (hip flexor spasm) will feel better while sitting, then when they arise from a chair they may need two or three steps before then can straighten to standing. Often a patient will have one side that is in spasm. These patients will either be flexed laterally or have their shoulders quite dramatically off to one side in relation to where their hips are.

Cox Disc Decompression
Cox Flexion/Distraction is the gold standard in spinal decompression therapy. Stretching the spine in this way pulls fluid and nutrition into the discs and joints. After an injured disc is healed, decompression is an excellent to keep the disc healthy and prevent re-injury.
Arthritis in the spine is called "Degenerative Disc Disease". A lifetime of gravity makes discs dehydrated and flat. Over time the discs stop supporting your body and your weight shifts from the discs to the joints of the spine. This causes pain while standing for a long period or when you first get up in the morning. Cox decompress is an excellent way to restore motion and relieve the pain spinal arthritis! |
Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology uses the muscle tone is ask the body questions. The questions often come from intuition, as in this case: A patient came in for care after a car accident and my inner voice kind of screamed "CHECK HIS C1!" Is C1 bilaterally anterior? "Yes" (That's not good.) Is it a hairline fracture of C2 odontoid process? "YES!" Is it safe to Adjust it? "NO!!" (This is the level of the brainstem, you do NOT want any fractures, hairline or not at this level.) I got X-ray confirmation that afternoon. I cannot explain why Applied Kinesiology works, but it does.

Reiki and Mind/Body Emotional Release
Unresolved trauma or grief cause persistent, recurring, circular neurological patterns that drain energy and block healing. This stress manifests at the body's "Achille's Heel", and can result in emotional or physical symptoms such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, digestive system issues, chronic fatigue, etc. Reiki allows Devine energy to flow through the practitioner to the client to gentle remove any hindrance to health, happiness and spiritual growth.
Mind/Body Emotional Release draws on multiple methods designed to short-circuit negative neurological patterns. These include Bio-energetic Synchronization Technique (BEST), Reconnective Healing, Logan Basic Technique, Applied Kinesiology, Acupuncture, Polarity Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing Technique, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). |
Graston Therapy
Graston Technique® (GT) therapy is a comfortable and effective deep-tissue massage with specially designed instruments based on Chinese Gua Sha. The instrument's design smooths underlying muscle, tendons and ligaments. Removing "knots", trigger points and adhesions.
Other soft-tissue therapies include Kinesotaping, an elastic sports tape designed to relieve pain while supporting muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Low Level Laser Therapy, which has been shown to reduce pain, inflammation, edema, and promote healing. Soft-tissue therapy is done in conjunction with a chiropractic visit. |
